All day, the postman struggled to find the source of the sounds.
A kitten in distress
But the next day, Joseph managed to locate the source of the cries. They were, in fact, the distressed mews of a tiny kitten trapped in a small corner.
Joseph placed the kitten in his sweatshirt pocket and let it nap for the rest of his delivery round.
As he was heading home with the little kitten, he realised how lucky he was to have been able to save it. So, he decided to stop at a newsagent's to buy a lottery ticket.
The winning ticket
A few days later, when the lottery was drawn, Joseph checked the ticket with his wife and discovered they had won the jackpot... a whopping $717,500!
Joseph and his wife believe the kitten brought them this good fortune.
Joseph plans to save some of the winnings and use the rest to help his parents with their retirement and donate to charities. What a lucky kitten!
