The tomcat was sitting on the roof of a car next to a very busy street.
As the founder of Thrifted Kittens Animal Rescue, Emilie didn't hesitate to stop and check on the cat.
A tempting treat
The rescuer offered him some food. At first, the tomcat was a little wary, but he couldn't resist the tempting offer for long. The ginger cat had a very unusual physical feature. His ears weren't pointed but slightly rounded, as if they were "crumpled".
Once the cat trusted Emilie, he led her to a local cat colony. There were over 40 cats sleeping on the streets... So, she called her team for backup. However, despite the rescuers' efforts, the ginger cat with the crumpled ears remained elusive, skilfully avoiding all their traps.
She wouldn't give up
Determined to save him, Emilie returned every evening to feed him, watching him from a distance. After weeks of unsuccessful attempts, the rescuer finally managed to catch him. She named the cat Leo, because he looked a bit like a lion with his rounded ears. The poor thing had numerous broken teeth, an injured paw, and his skin was in poor condition. That night, he was able to sleep in the comfort of a home, far from the streets.
After his dental treatment, Leo was no longer in pain. He started approaching Emilie for cuddles, revealing his sweet and affectionate nature. When Leo was finally ready for adoption, weeks went by without a single application. Fortunately, a month ago, Leo (renamed Teddy) moved into his new home. Now, the cat is thriving with his human, his two housemates, and his new feline sister, Birdie. When he's not snuggling with his humans, he enjoys the company of a small dinosaur soft toy. After years of surviving on the streets, Teddy is finally living the happy life he deserves in his forever home.
