In 2023, about a week before Valentine's Day, an animal rescuer named Merinda found an unwell cat sitting on a house porch in the US.

The cat had an injured paw, was covered in mange, and was in desperate need of help.

A shocking diagnosis

Merinda took the cat to Andrea Christian, a volunteer at the St Francis Society Animal Rescue. They named the cat Ohana, which means "family".

Andrea noticed that when Ohana walked, her whole body seemed to go in different directions. The poor cat had been hit by a car at some point in her past and had healed without proper medical care.

Despite everything Ohana had been through, she was happy to be with her rescuers and purred gently.

A new lease of life

Over time, Ohana grew in strength and confidence.

Ohana received treatment for arthritis and medication to help her relax, improve her mobility, and strengthen her body.

With proper care, her skin healed, her beautiful fur began to grow back, and her energy levels soared!

Andrea started to train her to walk on a harness, and Ohana quickly adapted, walking with grace and confidence.

After months of searching and hoping, Andrea received the news she had been waiting for.

Ohana was adopted by Dr Anna, the very vet who had been caring for her!

It has now been a year since Ohana was rescued. She has transformed into a beautiful cat with a soft, shiny coat, as you can see in the photos below.
