Her owner, Emily Bearden, sensed that something wasn't quite right with her sweet dog.
A deep loneliness
Emily realised that Ellie was finding it harder and harder to leave the park and the other dogs.
In fact, she seemed to want the other dogs to come home with her. Once she was back in the living room by herself, she would just play with her toys. But whenever she settled down, she had such a sad, downcast look in her eyes.
Emily and her partner took some time to think about the situation and talk it over. It was clear that Ellie was feeling very lonely.
A life-changing decision
So, the couple decided to adopt another dog. They went to their local rescue centre and met a lovely dog named Tank. There was an instant, powerful connection between them.
Emily was careful to introduce the two dogs under the best possible conditions. She made sure each dog had the space it needed.
But from the moment they met, it was clear that Ellie and Tank didn't need any space from each other. They instantly behaved as if they'd known each other their whole lives.
Ever since, Ellie hasn't left Tank's side for a single moment. She is absolutely over the moon, and so are her owners!
