Rat poison hidden in meat

As reported by The Mirror, Abbi had to be put on a drip and is now undergoing treatment after eating rat poison hidden in pieces of meat.

It's believed the dog ingested the poison during a routine walk. Luckily, Abbi's owner immediately realised something was wrong when he checked his dog's droppings. They had turned black, a common sign of poisoning.

Abbi's owner rushed him to the vet to get him treated as quickly as possible.

A call for vigilance

The Scottish SPCA is taking this public poisoning incident very seriously and has launched an investigation to find out how the meat was contaminated and left in the middle of a park.

They are also urging owners to be vigilant and to keep a close eye on their pets.

"This is a very serious incident which could have had a very different outcome if his owner hadn't acted so quickly. Using poison or any dangerous item with the deliberate intention of harming animals is a crime and is punishable by law.
