Vet comforts burnt dog in his cage, moving everyone to tears

She acted out of love, caring for a dog abandoned by his family. What happened next speaks louder than words.

Taka is an incredibly lucky Shiba Inu. Just a few months ago, a fire broke out at his family's home. They did everything they could to save their beloved pet, but Taka was trapped on a screened-in porch. His owners couldn't reach him in time and were forced to flee, leaving him behind.

Minutes later, Taka's fate changed dramatically. Against all odds, the dog managed to break free and escape the flames. A neighbour found him and rushed him to the Care More Animal Hospital in Georgia, USA, where he immediately received care.

Severe burns

Taka was suffering from multiple injuries, including burns around his eyes, mouth, and ears. He was treated by a vet as soon as he arrived. At first, the vets weren't sure if he would survive.

The dog was transferred to another clinic, as he needed an oxygen tank to help him breathe properly. After a few days, he regained some strength and returned to the first clinic. There, vet Emily Martin was completely charmed by him. She was determined to help the little dog and did everything she could to make Taka comfortable despite his pain.

She even decided to take the dog home with her for the weekend so he wouldn't be alone. And when Taka was napping at the clinic, she would lie down with him in his cage to give him cuddles.

A new beginning for Taka

Emily Martin soon contacted Taka's family to update them on his condition. His owners decided they could no longer care for the dog and surrendered him to the clinic.

Although it's still too early to say how the burns will affect Taka in the long run, the vets are very optimistic. This is especially true now that he is eating and going to the toilet by himself. Once Taka has recovered, Emily Martin would love to adopt him, but she already has five dogs and a baby at home. She will therefore likely try to find a loving family for the little dog.
