When a rescuer from Pet Rescue Solutions in California arrived at work around 8:30 am, she immediately knew something was wrong.

Near the shelter building, a black blanket had been left under a tree, soaked by the rain.

The blanket appeared to be covering something.

A shocking discovery

The rescuer had a bad feeling. As she lifted the blanket, she discovered a pet carrier. Tucked up inside was a small family: a mother cat and her three kittens, all skinny and obviously hungry.

She immediately brought them inside to be examined. No one knows when the cats were abandoned. The blanket was soaked through, and since it had rained heavily overnight, the rescuers believe the poor family had tragically been left out in the cold.

Safe and sound

The family was examined by the shelter's vets. The mother cat was just a kitten herself, only six or seven months old. Her kittens are six weeks old, and two of them look very much like their mum. The check-up revealed they were all in good health and just needed food, water, and love.

The shelter decided to name the mother cat Flow, after the character in the animated film. They are still thinking of names for the three kittens. Overall, the little family is doing extremely well at the shelter despite their difficult start. We wish this lovely family the very best in finding their forever home, filled with joy and love, very soon.
