In New York, USA, volunteers from the Cats in the City rescue were contacted to help a stray cat found at the Williamsburg bus station.
The only problem was, the station was closed and the cat was trapped inside. Through video footage, the volunteers saw a frightened cat meowing and pacing up and down.
A desperate plea for help
One volunteer managed to feed the cat with what they had to hand. “The volunteer managed to slide some food under the door, and he devoured it in no time,” explained Becky Wisdom, president of the organisation.
After a bit of digging, the volunteers discovered that the first members of staff arrived at around 6 a.m. They decided to leave a note on the door, asking the employees not to let the cat out.
A new beginning for Metrocard
The next morning, the volunteers were able to safely rescue the tomcat, who they renamed Metrocard. The cat has now been placed in a foster home while he waits to find his forever family.
