By the side of the road, a female dog was locked inside her crate, left completely on her own.
Next to the crate was a heartbreaking note, handwritten by her former owner.
The team was moved to tears
It read: "Her name is Clio. She is a good dog. Please find her a home. I'm sorry." No one knows why the dog was abandoned, but one thing is certain: Clio wasn't left within the shelter's grounds. She was found alone, just a short distance from the entrance.
The rescuers were heartbroken. They pointed out that cars had been driving past the crate all morning without stopping. The team believes drivers likely assumed the dog was already in the shelter's care, when in fact she was not.
A new beginning
The rescuers quickly got Clio out of her crate. The poor girl was terrified. But thankfully, once they brought her safely inside and introduced her to some other dogs, she began to relax. They could also see that Clio had been well cared for before she was abandoned.
The shelter staff shared online that Clio is now safe and is already starting to make friends at the centre. We're so relieved this sweet girl was found in time, and we hope she finds a kind and loving forever home.
