Felix disappeared in 2019 shortly after the family moved home, sparking months of desperate searching and appeals across the local area.
Despite their efforts, hope gradually faded as the years passed.
Chance discovery leads to emotional reunion
The breakthrough came when Felix was regularly spotted visiting a nearby property and was taken to the RSPCA Milton Keynes and North Bucks branch. When staff scanned him, they discovered his microchip had been registered as a missing pet.
A phone call to owner Tara Moore brought the news she never expected to hear. She collected Felix immediately, with staff describing the reunion as deeply emotional.
Back home, Felix appeared to recognise his name and quickly settled back into family life, soaking up attention and refusing to leave his owners’ side as Christmas approached.
Reminder to keep microchip details updated
The reunion has highlighted the importance of microchipping pets and keeping their contact details up to date. In England, it has been a legal requirement since June last year for owned cats over 20 weeks old to be microchipped.
Tara hopes Felix’s story will encourage other owners not to give up hope, even after being apart for years.
Welcome home, Felix!
