A Reddit user recently shared a surprising story about moving into their new home.
The user explained that a month after they moved in, a cat snuck into their living room when their husband popped out to get the post.
"A young adult cat ran across the street, threw herself at his feet and started purring. When he opened the front door to wave me outside, she just darted straight in."
The cat who came to stay
Unable to leave her outside, the couple decided to set her up with "a bed, a heating pad and a litter tray."
After a trip to the vet, they discovered the cat was about nine months old, wasn't microchipped, and hadn't been spayed.
Initially, the couple decided to look after the little cat until after the Christmas holidays, before trying to find her a forever home.
A change of heart
However, the user couldn't go through with their plan. They quickly realised they couldn't let the little cat go: "I looked at her and realised I couldn't part with this baby."
She is now named Phoebe and is officially part of the poster's family, becoming their fifth and final cat.
