A young woman's day took an unexpected turn on her way to work. As she arrived at the 170th Street subway station on the D line in the Bronx, New York, she came face to face with a cat that was clearly out of place.
The little tabby cat was huddled on the station stairs, completely terrified. He was so scared that he let her stroke him without even trying to run away. Unable to ignore his sad plight, she did the right thing.
A call for help
The young woman immediately sent a message to PuppyKittyNYCity, a charity that cares for stray and abandoned cats in the Big Apple.
After getting the necessary details, the charity headed straight to the scene. When they arrived, they found the young woman outside the station, holding the little cat in her arms. Without a second thought, the rescuer emptied her large handbag to make a makeshift carrier for the cat, who offered no resistance.
A happy new beginning
The cat has since seen a vet and has been placed in a foster home. He is a very friendly and affectionate boy, and seems incredibly grateful to have been rescued. It wasn't long before he found his forever home.
