Officers in The Hague freed a dog from a locked car early Tuesday morning. The animal had been trapped inside for a considerable time.

Around 5am on Tuesday morning, officers received a report about a dog barking incessantly in a parked car on Catherinaland, in the Mariahoeve and Marlot district. Local residents were concerned as the animal was trapped inside with no owner visible nearby.

Owner couldn't be reached

Police tried to contact the car's owner but without success. As the situation became increasingly worrying for the dog, officers decided to take action.

Window smashed for rescue

With one well-aimed blow, an officer broke the car's side window. The animal could finally be freed from its distressing situation. A clear note was left on the windscreen: "We have smashed your window because of your dog."

Warning issued to owner

Shortly afterwards, the owner was finally contacted. The dog was returned to him, but police stressed that any repeat incident would have consequences. "If this happens again, there will be a formal discussion," said a spokesperson. We hope this poor dog won't find himself in such a situation again.
