One-year-old Cane Corso Klaus was described as “well-behaved, cheerful, a good, wonderful dog. A true angel.” The team had already found him a loving home, but fate had other plans.
Klaus and his brother Jörg came from Romania, brought to Germany for a better future. While the shelter hoped to rehome them both, they noticed something wasn’t right with Klaus.
A devastating diagnosis
Though clearly in discomfort, he showed remarkable strength. A veterinary check confirmed the worst.
X-rays revealed Klaus had severe bilateral hip dysplasia with luxation and advanced elbow arthritis. At just one year old, he was in constant pain. Surgery wasn’t an option.
His condition pointed to irresponsible breeding, likely the result of puppy farming.
Loved until the end
“We feared bad news, but this diagnosis floored us,” the shelter shared. All they could do was free him from his suffering.
Before saying goodbye, they gave Klaus what may have been his first taste of true comfort: warmth, love, good food, and rest. The post touched thousands. Within two days, over 3,000 comments and 21,000 reactions poured in.
Run free now, dear Klaus, without pain. You more than deserve it.
