Katherine Kiefer, who lost her Pacific Palisades home in the inferno, was certain her five-year-old Maine Coon, Aggie, had been consumed by the flames.
But this week, volunteers clearing debris discovered the starving feline hiding in the wreckage.
Emotional reunion
Rushed to an emergency vet, Aggie was reunited with Kiefer in a moment captured on video, showing the elderly woman sobbing as she cradled her pet.
“She was just skin and bones but recognised our voices,” Kiefer said. “It was truly a miracle.”
Generous donations
Aggie, who required multiple blood transfusions, is steadily recovering. A GoFundMe campaign launched to cover her treatment has already surpassed its goal, raising over $16,000.
The Palisades Fire was one of several wildfires that ravaged Southern California, leaving thousands homeless and causing billions in damages.
