To the biker's horror, there were four sodden and shivering puppies tied to a gate, left alone in the pouring rain.
The biker, immediately sensing something was wrong, contacted the RSPCA, who swiftly dispatched an inspector to the scene.
Heartbreaking sight
“It was heartbreaking to see them so frightened and wet,” said RSPCA Inspector Graeme Brookes. “They were likely dumped in the early hours, scared and confused.”
As Brookes carefully loaded the distressed cockapoo puppies into his van, one of them, too terrified to walk, had to be carried. Clutching her tightly, Brookes noticed something remarkable. “She locked eyes with me and wouldn’t look away. Even at the vets, she wouldn’t leave my side.”
RSPCA investigation
The puppies, all 10 months old, were microchipped, but the details were outdated, leaving their origins a mystery. Now safe in emergency boarding, they are receiving the care they need while the RSPCA investigates.
“This was an act of cruelty,” Brookes added. “We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Thanks to the biker’s sharp eye, these puppies now have a second chance.
