No one expected such a discovery at a height of over seven metres!

We know that cats are excellent tree climbers (though they don't always manage to get down). However, spotting a German Shepherd at such a height is truly unheard of.

Luna, a young 10-month-old German Shepherd, was found in El Dorado County, California, in the most unusual place – nearly at the top of a rather tall tree!

Sudden escape

Luna's owner, Brian Spies, lost sight of her for just a moment. That brief lapse was all the energetic puppy needed. When Brian looked back, Luna was nowhere to be seen.

The search began. Brian thoroughly combed the area for his beloved dog, but with no luck. A small grove near their house seemed like a promising place to check, but Luna wasn’t there either. Finally, Brian reached out to his friends for help.

Luka Bogdanovich, one of Brian’s friends, returned to the grove to take another look. While scanning the area, a sudden movement in one of the trees caught his eye. What he saw next left him stunned.

Is it a squirrel? No, it’s a dog!

At first, Luka assumed the brown shape in the tree was a squirrel. But it was far too large. As he moved closer, he realised it was Luna – Brian’s missing dog – perched high in the branches.

Luka quickly called Brian, who had a folding ladder in the back of his pickup truck. Without wasting any time, Brian set up the ladder, climbed up to the branch where Luna was sitting over seven metres above the ground, and carefully brought her back down to safety.

Luna is now safe and sound, but the neighbourhood is still buzzing with questions about how she managed to climb so high in the first place.

Brian, taking the situation in stride, joked, “If she ever runs away again, we’ll start searching the trees first.”
