A white cat named Ghost has been hailed a hero after stepping in to protect two newly adopted kittens from the other five cats in his household.

The kittens, brought in by their owner to assist with pest control, were met with hostility by the older cats, except for Ghost, who immediately took them under his wing.

The owner, posting as @Cat-on-the-run on Reddit, shared that Ghost made it clear the kittens were under his protection.

Standing between the kittens and the other cats, Ghost hissed to prevent any aggression and later comforted the frightened newcomers.

Ghost's size and calm demeanour seemed to deter any potential fights, earning him respect among the feline group. "He lets the kittens warm up to him and is very gentle," the owner said.

Feline hero

A photo of Ghost wearing a medal for his protective actions was shared on November 13, quickly gaining over 36,000 upvotes on Reddit's r/aww subreddit.

Users praised Ghost, calling him a "feline hero" and commending his bravery. While Ghost cannot have treats due to health concerns, his owner ensures he receives plenty of love and toys thanks to his vigilance.

"Good Boy," indeed.
