When they first noticed the box, officers could tell something wasn't right.
An animal had been shut inside, and it urgently needed their help.
An act of cruelty
Cautiously opening the box, they found a little black and white 6-month-old kitten cowering in the corner.
Heartbreakingly, the owner had not only forced him into the box. She had lined it with a plastic bag and tied a string around the cat's neck, limiting his movement even further.
Thankfully, police officers arrived just in time.
Horrified by the scene, they immediately removed the cat, and reported his former owner for animal cruelty.
New beginnings
The 55-year-old owner signed away her rights, leaving the kitten in the care of a reputable rescue.
There, staff and volunteers will ensure the kitten receives all the veterinary care and love he needs, to help him recover from his terrifying ordeal.
Once he's ready, he will go up for adoption in Poland. We hope he soon finds himself happy and settled in a loving home of his very own.
