Volunteers from a French animal shelter were left puzzled to discover two tiny kittens abandoned in a cardboard box.

The ginger and white pair, appearing well cared for, seemed unlikely candidates for such a heartless act.

But at the vet, the heartbreaking reason for their abandonment came to light.

Discovery at vets

Named Vaillant and Viking, the kittens underwent a thorough health check-up before adoption. The vet quickly noticed that Vaillant, the lighter-coloured kitten, had a severe disability affecting his hind legs. This was likely the reason for his owner’s abandonment decision.

Rather than giving the kitten the extra care it needs, someone chose to discard both kittens instead.

Resilient kittens

Vaillant’s resilience impressed everyone at the association despite his limitations, and he found strength in Viking’s comforting presence. Their bond offered support as Vaillant showed determination to adapt to his challenges.

With the association’s help and a committed foster family, Vaillant and Viking are finally safe. For these two kittens, the days of neglect are behind them as they begin a new life surrounded by care and compassion, ensuring they’ll never be left behind again.
