Staff at the Semblançay town hall in Indre-et-Loire, France, had a distressing start to the day when they discovered a cardboard box left at their front door.

Upon opening the box, they found three roughly two-month-old kittens crammed inside without any air holes for ventilation.

Intolerable and unacceptable!

The discovery sparked anger across the town hall, and staff members took to Facebook to express their outrage.

Staff described the abandonment as 'Intolerable and unacceptable' and highlighted that the town hall is neither equipped nor authorised to handle animal abandonment.

They also shared that the kittens still need their mother until they are three months old. The kittens were too young to be alone and should have been kept with their mother for proper development and care.

Appeal for information

The town hall also criticised the irresponsible individual for not making provisions for the kittens' basic needs.

They are now urging the public to come forward with any information that might help identify the person responsible for the abandonment.
