The walk may have started out like any other for Golden Retriever Utah and his owner.
The pair were walking along enjoying the warmth of a Brittany summer evening, when Utah dove into the long grass.
A shocking reaction
Lead still attached, his owner thought nothing more of it. She simply called Utah back over to her and moved on.
It wasn't until the next day, that things took a terrifying turn for the poor pup.
Where Utah would usually be eager and excited to join his owner at work, he seemed listless and very quiet. Then, out of nowhere, he started vomiting blood.
The diagnosis
Utah was immediately rushed to the vet, where his vet diagnosed a poisoning of some kind.
They explained that the dog had ingested an anticoagulant of some kind, perhaps that used in rat poison. Fortunately, they had an antidote to hand, and thanks to the quick thinking of his mistress, Utah was in safe hands.
He may have been very lucky, but Utah's owner still has concerns for other dogs out there. He managed to get to the food even on lead, making his story a reminder to owners everywhere to monitor their dogs on walks.
