Drunk couple arrives to collect a dog: but the handover is a complete disaster

By Lina Rayan

When the transport carrying dogs from Romania arrived, it wasn't just the animal rescuers who were waiting. A drunk couple was also there to meet it.

Several months ago, volunteers from the German charity Tierschutz Vermittlungshilfe were awaiting a new transport of dogs from Romania. Everyone was hoping the dogs would get a real chance at finding a forever home in Germany. When the transport finally arrived, ”a couple who looked, let's say, a little strange” also showed up, as stated in the charity's Facebook post.

They were there to adopt a dog that had been reserved for them. But there was a problem: the couple, who were clearly intoxicated, had come without a car and had not brought a travel crate. Despite this, they intended to take the dog home on the train.

A disastrous handover

First, the transport driver refused to hand the dog over to the couple. They then called a taxi to take them and the animal to the station. However, the taxi driver also refused to take the dog without a proper travel crate.

Putting the dog's safety first

The volunteers then made it clear to the couple that they would not be getting the dog under these conditions, as they could not guarantee its safety.

The couple was therefore told to go home – without Fibi.
