Millions of TikTok users have been moved to tears, by an emotional video that captures 14-year-old Al's last moments before he crossed the rainbow bridge.

The last hours before a pet passes can be some of the most difficult moments for a caregiver, and it can be hard to know how to give your beloved companion the perfect end.

Owner Angelica planned out exactly how she wanted Al to spend his last few hours, capturing it all in a very special video.

14 wonderful years

Silver tabby cat Al had been by Angelica's side for 14 years, ever since the devoted cat mum was in seventh grade.

Following a long battle with kidney failure, she knew the time had come to let her feline friend go peacefully. But before he crossed the rainbow bridge, she wanted to give him the perfect send off.

All his favourite things

The video, which has now been viewed 3.7 million times, is as beautiful as it is heartbreaking.

First, Al gets to enjoy a hamburger, which is broken into tiny bite-size pieces. Then he moves on to a whole bowl of creamy milk, which he would never normally have been allowed.

After finishing off his meal, it's time for lots of cuddles and head scratches, which he seems to adore.

"You gave him the best life" writes one viewer to Angelica. And along with the best life, Al also got the most loving goodbye.

@an.gelly My wonderful baby boy Al had lived an amazing 14 years (got him when I was in 7th grade) but unfortunately had to cross the rainbow bridge due to his kidney failure that progressed in Nov 2023. He lived an extra 3 years from when he was originally diagnosed (2020). I will always love and miss him! Rest in peace Mr. Al!! 2009-2023 #catsoftiktok #catlover #rainbowbridge🌈 #rip ♬ someday i'll get it - Alek Olsen
