Bruno, an adorable ginger and white cat, thought his dreams had come true when a family adopted him. But that would all change within a week, and you won't believe why.
Just a cat being a cat
The family who adopted Bruno had never owned a cat but was eager to get a feline companion. In his new home, the two-year-old cat proved very affectionate and would follow his owners everywhere, wanting cuddles and climbing on their laps for strokes.
And that's what caused his owners to return him to the shelter. They felt that Bruno was too affectionate and clingy. They also complained about Bruno's "fifteen minutes of madness" when he'd get the zoomies in the evening and run about the house.
Shelter staff were understandably stunned to hear why the family returned the cat. After all, it sounded like Bruno was simply displaying typical cat behaviour.
Second chance for Bruno
Bruno seemed a little depressed to find himself back at the shelter, so the staff decided to make every effort to quickly find him a new loving home with a family that understands what it means to have a cat.
After sharing Bruno's story on social media, the shelter received around 50 adoption applications for him, and he didn't have to wait long to get adopted. Meanwhile, those cat lovers interested in him diverted their attention to adopting the other cats in the shelter.
We hope that Bruno can finally live his best life while his former owners do more research before they try adopting an animal again.
