It can become increasingly difficult for older dogs to find that special person to adopt them, causing some dogs like Franuś to give up all hope.

Shelters work hard to find new homes for the animals in their care. But despite their best efforts, some animals, like senior dog Franuś, never get adopted.

No hope

After waiting so long to find a forever home, it's not surprising that Franuś had given up hope. Seeing the dog give up like that was heartbreaking for the shelter staff, who had grown fond of him. So, they decided it was time to take matters into their own hands.

Staff took to Facebook to share Franuś' story, hoping someone would come forward and offer him a loving home. The photo shows Franuś with his head down, looking incredibly sad. Staff explained that Franuś spends hours like this, as if he's not just given up hope of finding a home, but he's also given up on life.

The heartbreaking post was shared around 2,000 times, with people urging friends and family to consider adopting the lovely pup. Others shared their positive experiences of adopting an older dog.

Happy ending

Eventually, Franuś's story reached a family looking for a new pet. They contacted the shelter and offered to give Franuś a loving home.

Shortly after Franuś's adoption, the shelter shared a lovely photo of the dog with his smiling human sibling. At last, the dog looked happy, relaxed and, more importantly, loved.
