Meet Gary – The Big, Gentle Goofball

Currently in foster in Ayr, Scotland

Approx. 6–7 years old

Lab cross around 26-28kg

Gentle Boy Meet Gary — a big, soft-hearted lad with a goofy grin and a heart of gold! Once a street dog who was lovingly fed by one of our rescuers, Gary’s life took a tough turn when he was caught and taken to a public shelter. While there, he was sadly attacked by other dogs, leaving him with a few scars — but absolutely no scars on his spirit. He’s one of the sweetest, most forgiving dogs you’ll ever meet. Gary is what we call a “big gentle lump” — full of love, easy-going charm, and Labrador-like friendliness. He’s fantastic with other dogs and doesn’t react to barking or chaos around him. He’s calm, patient, and wonderfully good-natured. He’s a favourite among our volunteers, who all adore his goofy personality and affectionate nature. Gary’s convinced he’s a lap dog, and he’ll happily try to climb onto your knee for a cuddle (yes, all 28 kilos of him!). He walks nicely on a lead once he’s got over his initial excitement, and he’ll make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys gentle adventures and a loyal, loving best friend by their side.

Gary’s Perfect Home

Active home with time for walks and companionship

Secure garden to potter and play in

Not suitable for city or busy town life – he’s happiest in peaceful surroundings

Dog-friendly – he’s great with canine pals

Full of love to give and always ready for a cuddle

Gary is one of those special dogs who just makes you smile every day. He’s kind, goofy, loyal, and gentle — the kind of dog who will make any house feel like home. If you’re looking for a best friend with a big heart and an even bigger head (and an endless supply of love!)

Gary might just be your perfect match.
