Becky is a medium sized collie cross aged around three years old. Becky had been on our radar for well over a year before she finally came to the UK. She, like so many other dogs, were held back by the transport ban caused by the Ukrainian war and she waited all that time for her chance to get out of Romania. Despite coming on in leaps and bounds, Becky is still a bit nervous due to traumas from her past. She used to take a long time to trust strangers, but since being in a foster home she is much quicker at trusting new people. She is very food motivated and interested in the goings on around her, she really wants to make friends so can be won over with a little patience. Winning Becky’s trust is to win a very loyal friend! She follows her foster family around, she wants to be involved in everything and she asks for cuddles. She is extremely clever and has learn’t when the morning alarm goes off and will come up 5mins before to rest her head on her foster mum for a cuddle before the day starts. If she has a trusted person with her she is very open to meeting new people and will warm up to them in minutes. Guests coming into the home are no real problem for her. Becky will need another dog in her new home for confidence. She will need a home with no children under twelve. She travels well in the car and is excited to jump in on her own. Becky walks well on a lead, she is very interested in the world around her, not bothered by traffic but will need a bit more time to gain confidence passing strangers. She is not reactive but will sit and watch them with suspicion until they pass by. Becky would be an amazing pet and companion, but anyone interested in offering her a home need will need to appreciate that Becky doesn’t just hand out her love to anyone, you will need to put a bit of time and effort in. She has passed her cat testing, she lives with a cat in her foster home and just ignores her (even when the cat hits her for no reason).
Becky fostered Norwich Norfolk.

Adoption Policy
When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period.
Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure.
The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm.
Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer.
Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs.
Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate.
Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered (unless the dog is too young to be neutered).
