Cat litter box tips

Cats are clean creatures with very high standards of personal hygiene. This means you'll need to keep their litter tray clean and fresh smelling. Otherwise, your cat may find somewhere else to do its "business". But make sure you don't use any strong smelling cleaning products.

Cats have a very sensitive sense of smell, and the strong odours might put them off using the tray; just use some hot water instead.

Cat litter boxes come in all shapes and sizes, meaning that the modern pet owner is spoilt for choice. Just remember, finding the right litter tray is all about your cat.

You might be impressed with some of the high-tech options, but they'll quickly become redundant if your cat doesn't feel comfortable using the litter tray. In other words, it might be a good idea to try out some budget litter boxes before moving on to the more expensive options.

Some litter boxes can cost hundreds of pounds. This is a lot of money, but it means nothing to a cat. If they don't like it, your cat won't think twice about shunning the litterbox, no matter how much you might have paid for it!
