A poor dog in Plestin-les-Grèves, Brittany, has lived through a total nightmare after a terrifying ordeal.

On Saturday 17 October, the poor dog unfortunately fell into a storm drain network in France.

The shaft was extremely deep, and the pup was completely unable to climb back up to the surface on his own.

48 hours of pure agony

Fortunately, his owners raised the alarm as soon as they realised what had happened. It took a major emergency response to get the poor pooch out. Local council teams from Plestin-les-Grèves, the local fire brigade and the rural police all rushed to the scene to rescue him from the deep shaft.

The entire area had to be secured for the duration of the rescue operation. Finally, 48 hours after falling to the bottom of the rainwater pipe, the brave dog was reunited with his overjoyed owners.

A wonderful community effort

On Facebook, the rural police team praised the dedication and professionalism of all the emergency responders involved. Members of the public also flooded social media with warm messages of gratitude for everyone who helped.

Thankfully, this frightening story has a happy ending. The lovely dog is now safely back with his family, recovering after 48 anxious hours underground. What a relief, and a huge well done to everyone involved in this incredible team effort!
