A heavy burden
Sadly, she discovered a large dog attached to a heavy chain that was only about 4 feet long. It was so short and heavy that he could not even settle inside his kennel. He had no clean water to drink either, only mud inside his bowl. According to neighbours, the poor pup had been living like this for over a year, with a few kind locals bringing him food and water when they could.
When she approached him, she expected to meet a terrified dog. But quite the opposite happened! The dog wagged his tail warmly and gently took treats from her hand. Later that day, she returned with another volunteer and a police officer to set him free.
Finally free
When his chain was finally cut, the dog surprised everyone present. He immediately started licking his rescuers, as if to thank them for saving his life! The licks continued all through the journey back to the rescue centre. Now safe and sound, this brave boy is finally discovering the joy of moving around freely. He is also thoroughly enjoying his delicious meals and cosy blankets.
The team want to give him time to recover and understand his needs before finding him a loving forever home. The charity also remind us that if you witness any cases of neglect, you should always contact your local animal welfare authorities.
