Touched by her sweet nature, Skyler and Nikka decided to bring her home for the night, planning to take her to the vet the next day. Once they arrived at their flat, they made her a makeshift bed using a pillow and some blankets.
Shortly after, Skyler noticed two tiny heads nestled against her. The cat had started going into labour. Over the next few hours, she gave birth to seven healthy kittens, much to the amazement of the couple, who rushed to set up a suitable space and ordered all the necessary supplies online for the new little family.
Their story, which they shared on Reddit while she was giving birth, earned the mother cat her new name: Taco, in memory of the meal they never got to eat. Skyler and Nikka plan to look after the kittens until they are old enough to be adopted, but Taco has found her forever home and will be staying with them for good.
