Shih Tzu puppy worth $5,800 stolen from pet shop, sparking urgent search

By Elise Petter

A nine-week-old Shih Tzu puppy worth $5,800 (£4,500) has been stolen from a Petland store in Strongsville, USA. Police are currently searching for a female suspect.

A theft took place in early August at the Petland store in Strongsville, Ohio, in the United States. A nine-week-old female Shih Tzu puppy named Zima was stolen, with her value estimated at $5,800 (around £4,500).

The store's management reported the incident to the police. CCTV footage shows a woman leaving the shop whilst carrying the puppy.

Concerns grow for the puppy's health

Amy Parker, the regional animal care manager for the brand, has appealed for Zima's immediate return. She stressed that the puppy's safety and well-being are their absolute priority.

According to Ms Parker, small-breed puppies require specialised care. The store's team knows her exact feeding schedule and how much food she needs each day.

"You haven't received the necessary instructions to care for a puppy like this. Please bring her back, it was a mistake to take her from the shop," said Amy Parker.

Police appeal for information

Authorities are now trying to identify the woman captured on the CCTV footage. The detective bureau at Strongsville Police Department is urging anyone with information about the theft or the puppy's whereabouts to call them on 440-580-3248.
