Twelve years ago in Houston, USA, Lola was adopted from a shelter by her family when she was about a year old.
Now, 12 years after her adoption, Lola has been returned to the very same shelter.
A heartbreaking return
The people who dropped her off at the shelter explained that they had taken the dog in from her previous owner, but could no longer care for her due to their own medical issues. The rescuers were heartbroken for her and shared her story on social media.
A partner organisation, Caitie’s Foster Fam Rescue, then offered to help, hoping to find her a comfortable home where she could spend her golden years.
A fresh start
Thanks to the help of Caitie’s Foster Fam Rescue, Lola was able to move into a foster home. It’s the ideal environment for her to decompress after such a stressful change. Foster families play a crucial role in helping shelter dogs to de-stress and regain their confidence.
Lola is now in a warm home and is being showered with love by her foster family. She will also receive treatment for a tumour on her paws and for heartworm. We wish her all the best for the future.
