Aspen, a young Husky cross, recently found her biological brother, Toby, months after they were both adopted. The reunion took place in a dog park in Boca Raton, Florida, and a video of the moment has since gone viral on social media.
Aspen and her three siblings had a very difficult start in life. The litter was discovered abandoned in the back garden of a house in Florida.
The puppies were taken in by the UFAR Animals Rescue charity in Margate. It was there that 32-year-old Zack Goldwasser, from Fort Lauderdale, met the puppy then known as “Mimosa” and decided to adopt her, renaming her Aspen.
A chance encounter in the park
As is often the case, the new owner didn't know his dog's full story. And that could have been the end of it.
One day, while his own dog was playing with another puppy in a dog park, Zack started chatting with the other owner.
As they talked, they realised their dogs had a lot of similarities. They were the same age, from the same rescue centre, and looked almost identical. The owners soon understood that their dogs were likely from the same litter.
The dogs recognised each other
After making the connection, the two owners immediately arranged another meeting. Zack Goldwasser was expecting a friendly get-together, but he was deeply moved by the two animals' reaction.
As shown in a video he posted on his TikTok account (@zackgoldwasser3), Aspen and Toby recognised each other. The clip of their reunion immediately touched the hearts of people online, quickly racking up hundreds of thousands of views and tens of thousands of likes.
Following the success of this first reunion, the two owners have already met up again. They plan to stay in touch so the brother and sister can continue to grow up side by side.
