On 20th April, the rescue centre in the USA shared a video about a special event they organised at the shelter.
The event is called “Love At First Wag”, a clever play on the phrase “love at first sight”.
A new approach
The idea is to flip the traditional adoption process on its head. Usually, it's the humans who visit the shelter to choose their dog, but for this event, it's the other way around. The dog gets to choose its human!
In the video below, you can see several people sitting in a circle in a room. A dog then enters and walks over to the person it chooses. The interaction is absolutely adorable to watch. We then see one lucky person leaving with their new dog, as the pair walk out of the shelter doors to start their new life together!
A viral hit
The idea was a huge hit with users on the social media platform TikTok. In fact, the video has racked up more than 3.9 million views.
In the comments, some people joked: “If no one chose me, I’d never get over it”. Others had a solution: “Me with beef treats in my pocket...” That’s certainly one way to attract a few furry friends!
Another person asked: “What if all the dogs come to you?” In that case, there’s only one thing to do: adopt them all! This is an innovative concept that deserves praise for raising public awareness about adopting shelter dogs.
