A local resident alerted the firefighters on 17th May.
For two days, they had heard non-stop barking, which sounded like genuine cries for help.
Trapped in concrete
When they arrived at the scene, the rescuers quickly realised how urgent the situation was. They found the dog trapped between two concrete structures. To get him out, they would have to make a hole directly in the wall.
The dog had been stuck there for two days with no way of freeing himself. Before they could start the rescue, the firefighters had to contact the building's owner.
Safe and sound
Once the owner gave them permission, the firefighters were able to demolish part of the building to rescue the dog. The mission was a success: when he was finally freed, the dog was uninjured.
The dog was taken in by the Metro Animal Care and Control shelter. For now, the team looking after him has not yet determined whether he is a stray or a lost pet. The story is developing.
