Wiley loves the snow, but this winter, an injury has put him on strict rest. To cheer up her frustrated Husky, Sally Compton transformed her garden in Oregon, USA, into a veritable arctic paradise.

For a Husky, winter is the happiest season of all. Originating from Siberia, this breed of working dog is literally built for the cold and snow. Unfortunately for Wiley, an injury at the start of the season stopped him from running and playing as much as he wanted to.

Seeing her four-legged friend looking miserable by the window, his owner Sally (@pnwsally on TikTok) had a brilliant idea. If Wiley couldn't run in the snow, the snow would come to him in the form of a cosy and safe shelter.

Building an ice palace

Armed with shovels and taking advantage of the heavy snowfall in Oregon, Sally set about building an igloo just the right size for her dog. The video showing the building process, from carefully sculpted mounds of snow to the perfectly circular entrance, quickly captivated the internet.

The goal was twofold: to give Wiley an outdoor space where he could enjoy the fresh air without risking further injury, while also stimulating his natural curiosity. The result is an icy cocoon where the Husky can rest comfortably while still being in his favourite element.

A viral video that warms hearts

Since it was posted in March, the clip has racked up more than 2 million views. Wiley's reaction to discovering his new domain was described as a "core memory" by many users. In it, the proud Husky can be seen taking possession of his igloo with a palpable sense of serenity and gratitude.

With over 366,000 likes, comments flooded in to praise Sally's dedication: "This is proof we would do anything for our fur babies," wrote one user. For Wiley, recovery has never been so refreshing. Thanks to this creative act of love, he was able to live out his own winter fairytale, safe and sound in his personal ice palace.
