Lying on the bare ground, in the dirt, were a mother dog and her puppies.
The entire little family was emaciated, and the dogs were clearly in need of help.
A unique bond
One of the puppies in particular caught Josh's eye. He got up to approach Josh, even though he appeared to be injured. But that didn't stop his puppy curiosity from taking over! The little dog gave Josh a warm welcome.
When the young man started to pet him, the puppy rested his little head in his hand, and Josh knew this was the dog for him. He immediately decided to call him Speedy.
A new life
The young man took the family of dogs to a local shelter, but when it came time to say goodbye to the puppy, Josh just couldn't do it. He decided to adopt him and take him home. He promised Speedy a life full of adventure.
The little dog now lives with Josh in San Diego. In his new city, Speedy has discovered the good life: playing with other dogs, having fun digging holes in the sand, playing with a ball, and sniffing all the new smells. Today, Speedy is six months old and is a very happy dog, living alongside his human for life!
