He saved his family in Tustin, California.
At 4:30am on 16th April, Fillmore suddenly started barking.
Non-stop barking
His owners asked him to be quiet several times, but to no avail. Fillmore just kept on barking. This was very unusual, as Fillmore hardly ever barks. So, the father got up, thinking something might be wrong. He looked out of the window and saw a bright light, which he thought was coming from the neighbour's house.
However, when he went down into the garden, he realised the light wasn't coming from next door, but from his own garage. It was on fire. He immediately called the fire brigade and got the whole family out of the house.
A furry hero
Once on the scene, the firefighters managed to extinguish the flames. Only the garage and the family's vehicles were damaged; the house itself was untouched. The firefighters praised Fillmore for his heroic actions and even posed for photos with him after the fire was put out.
An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire, with an electrical fault being the likely reason. Of course, Fillmore was handsomely rewarded by his family, who gave him plenty of delicious treats. A true hero indeed!
