The perfect hideout
Inside the bucket, they found a mother cat and her litter of tiny kittens!
The couple couldn't believe their eyes. They didn't recognise the cat and had never seen her before.
They gave her some cat food and water. They soon discovered that the cat was friendly and gently let them stroke her head.
A change of plan
Since this wasn't the ideal spot to care for the babies, the couple came up with a plan to help the mother cat move her kittens somewhere warm.
Once the kittens and their mum were settled in the basement, it was much easier for the couple to look after the whole little family.
