An unexpected discovery
However, life was tough for the mother cat and her seven kittens in these precarious conditions. Fortunately, their plight was reported to rescuers at the Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership (ARPO). Lori White stepped forward to foster the mother and her three-week-old kittens.
To rescue the little family safely, the team used towels to keep them warm and treats to coax them out. The entire rescue went smoothly, and the family was soon safely settled into their new foster home.
A striking resemblance
Once safe in their foster home, the cats were all given names. The mother was named Mildred, affectionately known as Millie, while her kittens were called Norman, Stanley, Bernard, Eugene, Otis Henry, Dottie, and Pearl Louise.
However, telling them apart was quite a challenge for the rescuers, as five of the kittens are ginger males with almost identical faces. Fortunately, their foster carer managed to spot a few subtle differences: Stanley is the lightest ginger, Bernard is the largest and darkest, while little Norman is the smallest with slightly longer fur.
Having struggled to find food on the streets, Millie is now eating heartily and passing all that vital nourishment on to her babies. The whole family is loving the warmth, and the kittens are well-fed and showered with love. For this brave mum and her adorable brood, a wonderful new chapter has finally begun!
