Oakley is a 13-year-old dog who can count on the unwavering support of his feline friend, River. As reported by The Dodo, the pair's owner, Amber, recently witnessed a truly touching scene.
One evening, she discovered her cat massaging her old dog. "I think he started to realise that Oakley wasn't well," Amber told The Dodo. "He thought, 'If you're doing that to cheer him up, I'll join in.'"
A helping paw
Amber had been regularly massaging her dog to help ease his discomfort. While she did this, River would sit beside them and rub up against Oakley.
Returning the favour
A few years earlier, when Amber first rescued a sick River, it was Oakley who took care of him, often coming to sit by his side.
"River can see that Oakley is getting older and needs help, and the fact that a cat can see that and go out of his way to try and comfort his close friend is truly inspiring," said Amber.
