On 31st March, the rescue team shared the story of a cat named Carlton.
Eight years ago, he first arrived at the shelter when he was just one year old.
A cat who was no longer wanted
The cat was soon adopted by a family. However, eight years later, his owner brought him back to the shelter, explaining that their circumstances had changed and that the cat was ”no longer wanted”.
The rescue team shared a photo of Carlton, comparing it to one from 2019, and he is unrecognisable. The differences are truly heartbreaking. While the cat once had lovely chubby cheeks and a beautiful coat, he is now very thin with a frightened look in his eyes.
A worrying state of health
Sadly, tests revealed that the cat was suffering from diabetes. The most common symptoms of type I and II diabetes include weight changes, increased thirst, frequent urination, and a loss of interest in usual activities.
The rescue team explained that Carlton would soon begin insulin treatment. They will monitor his response for a week, after which he will be officially available for adoption.
In the comments, people were heartbroken: ”Poor love. He doesn’t deserve this.” and ”So sad! Adoption is a lifelong commitment. It breaks my heart.” We sincerely hope that Carlton finds his forever family very soon.
