Adrian adores cats, but the couple has never had one because of his wife's allergies. So, for his birthday, while he was away on a business trip, Kelly decided to take the plunge. She prepared their barn to welcome a 'farm cat' and found an advert on a Canadian website for a young female cat in urgent need of a new home.
The owner had just one condition: Kelly had to take the cat's sister too. She agreed, and so left with two felines instead of one. Little did she know, fate had another surprise in store for her. Kelly's surprise was about to spiral completely out of control.
”Mum, there are babies!”
The day after the cats arrived, Kelly's son came running towards the house, shouting. Panic set in, and Kelly feared there had been an accident in the barn. But her son was shouting for joy: ”There are kittens!”. One of their two new lodgers had just given birth. Five tiny little creatures had come into the world.
Kelly was in shock. She couldn't help but laugh at the absurd situation. She had wanted to get him one cat, and now she had seven. ”It’s so typically us, we’re chaos magnets,” she joked. But the hardest part was yet to come: breaking the news to Adrian, who was celebrating his birthday that very day.
The husband's reaction
Adrian finally returned from his trip, and Kelly filmed the whole thing. The shock on his face was plain to see. He kept looking from his wife to the basket full of kittens, completely speechless. But once the initial surprise wore off, happiness took over. Adrian was over the moon, even though he never expected to become a ‘dad’ to seven cats in the blink of an eye.
The video of their first meeting has already racked up over 1.7 million views on Instagram. Adrian did, however, lay down one condition: no more new animals.
