At first, rescuers hoped his neck wound would heal quickly with the right treatment and bandages.
However, weeks went by and his condition did not get any better.
A stubborn patient?
Eventually, the rescue team worked out why. Sir Purr kept removing every single dressing and bandage they put on him, which made the vets' job incredibly difficult.
Because of where the wound was, the bandages kept slipping and the traditional medical collar simply did not work. Sir Purr kept scratching at his neck and reopening the wound, meaning constant trips back to the vet. It was a real vicious circle.
A stylish new look
Thankfully, the Neighborhood Vet clinic in Bushwick, New York, finally found the answer. After several consultations, tests and advice from skin specialists, the vets discovered that Sir Purr's wound was caused by skin irritation linked to allergies.
With the right treatment in place, the sweet cat started to recover. Alongside his medication, his foster family came up with a brilliant idea: they dressed him in a tiny turquoise polo neck jumper. It turned out to be the perfect solution. The collar covers his shoulders and stops his claws from reaching his sensitive skin. We have to admit, Sir Purr looks absolutely fabulous in his new outfit. What do you think?
