The animal shelter officers found a pet carrier abandoned by the roadside, at the junction of two roads.
Inside the carrier was a small, abandoned black and white dog.
A cruel message
The dog was in a dangerous situation, unable to free himself and get to safety. As the officers approached the carrier, they noticed a message scrawled in marker pen on the lid.
The dog's former owner had left a note expressing their dislike for him. Worse still, they had insulted their own dog. The message on the box read: "This dog is stupid. I found him, but he is way too stupid to be a pet. Better to shoot him. He jumps fences or digs, he barks at everyone and he toilets inside." The rest of the note continued to insult the poor dog.
An adorable dog
Despite the former owner's description, the officers found him to be "adorable". They also reached out to their community on Facebook, asking if anyone recognised the dog or had any information about him.
The dog is now certainly in good hands with his rescuers. Hopefully, he will soon find a healthy, loving home where he will be cherished for the rest of his life.
