In 2025, rescuers from the Chicago-based organisation One Tail at a Time (OTAAT) met Chloe, a dog who was in a terrible state.
As reported by The Dodo, the dog was literally skin and bones. Her extreme emaciation, irritated skin and overgrown nails all pointed to a long period of neglect before she was rescued.
They couldn't leave her in such a state. With the help of a vet, the charity's volunteers devised a plan to help Chloe get back on her paws.
A long road to recovery
After several weeks of care, Chloe was placed in a foster home, which was crucial for her recovery. There, she started to improve day by day. Her coat regained its shine, her energy levels increased, and her affectionate personality began to reveal itself to everyone.
Chloe finds her forever home
As luck would have it, a potential adopter named Shelia heard about little Chloe and immediately felt a special connection with her. The meeting was a turning point: the adoption was finalised, and Chloe could finally begin her new life.
Thanks to her owner, Chloe continues to make progress. She has now reached her ideal weight and is thriving with her new family.
