In the United States, the NAWS Humane Society shelter took in Stu, an adorable cat. He quickly won over the hearts of volunteers and staff with his gentle personality and his ability to get along with other felines.
Despite this, Stu wasn't attracting any potential families. The reason was a rare medical condition called entropion, which causes the eyelids to turn inwards. If left untreated, this can expose the corners of the eyes to painful irritation.
The Facebook post that changed everything
After several operations to correct the issue, specialists confirmed that Stu was no longer in pain and could see perfectly well. But his unusual appearance didn't appeal to potential adopters, much to the dismay of the shelter's volunteers.
A forever home at last
After months of waiting, a visitor named Kelsey finally took an interest in Stu. The young woman had discovered him through a Facebook post and wanted to meet him.
It was love at first sight. She decided to adopt him straight away. After waiting for almost 492 days, Stu had finally found his forever home.
