Local resident takes a cat to the vet, and her microchip reveals some wonderful news

By Elise Petter

In 2016, Charlie the cat vanished after a house move in Wales. Ten years later, she has been found in perfect health.

In 2016, just after moving to Abercarn in Wales, sisters Lucy Robertson and Hannah Davies went through a heartbreaking ordeal when their three-year-old tabby cat, Charlie, vanished. Despite endless searching and appeals in the local area, she was nowhere to be found for years.

A phone call out of the blue

Ten years later, the day before Lucy's 30th birthday, the phone suddenly rang. On the other end of the line, a vet told Hannah that a local resident had brought Charlie into the clinic to scan her microchip. This kind person had been feeding the cat for some time, with no idea that she already had a family.

A proper little celebrity at home

Now 13 years old, Charlie is in perfect health and looks exactly like she did in her old photos. When they were reunited, the cat recognised her owners straight away.

Back in her home, Charlie is slowly getting used to the other pets in the house. Always fond of her food, she is now thoroughly enjoying the attention and treats from her owners, who are absolutely delighted to have her back after such a long time apart.
